This December, Little Sweet Flower Farm is launching something new that blends my two worlds: teaching and native gardening. Before growing flowers full time, I spent eleven years teaching kindergarten, and that love of learning is still at the heart of everything I do.
To bring these passions together, I created a native garden subscription designed to guide children and anyone curious about the natural world through the plants and creatures that help our ecosystems thrive.
From December to April, recipients will receive a monthly envelope in the mail. Inside, they will find:
A new Wisconsin animal friend introducing one of the native plants in their kit
A sticker of the featured creature
A curated book list to extend learning
An engaging activity that encourages observations of the world right outside their door
(Some supplies may be included, but you may need to gather a few simple, inexpensive items.)
These activities build background knowledge, nurture curiosity, and prepare young explorers for the native plants they will receive in May.
In May, everything will come together. Families will visit Little Sweet Flower Farm (in Larsen, WI) to pick up:
Five native plants
Five birch plant labels
A hydration station kit to build at home using a repurposed vessel
A garden map with planting suggestions
A few extra surprises to bring the experience to life
